Te Puna Quarry Park

A guided walk round the Te Puna Quarry Park would be the perfect start your stay in the beautiful Bay of Plenty region.

Do a short one hour loop to see great views of the inner Tauranga harbour, or spend an afternoon or longer meandering it’s myriad of paths amongst all types of gardens.

There is a grove of young Kauri planted by the local lions club at the top of the quarry, and a newly planted native garden, a butterfly raising house, and some old machinery and a set of musical instruments is provided for children of all ages to play.

Walk Grade

Moderate: This short tour is an easy walk and suits a moderate fitness level.

Events in Te Puna Quarry Park

There are a festival and events at least twice a year, so ask about what’s on during your planned visit. Two events for this year are:

Quarryfest 2010 - Sunday, November 7
I will be helping the local Mountain Safety Council group either at the Quarry Park or on a running a women’s Bushcraft course.

Carols at the Quarry, usually around the beginning of December and held in the Amphitheatre.

Their website is quarrypark.org.nz

Volunteers

There is a society of dedicated volunteers who have won the Western Bay of Plenty Trustpower Community Award twice in 2002 and 2008, and in 2003 they won the supreme award at the national finals. This national recognition is fantastic for these dedicated volunteers and a testament to their incredibly hard work on the park over the years.
