The Wairongomai Buck Rock Loop is a cutover Lowland Bush walk, following mining tramways, and with a final scramble to the viewpoint

All day, generally leave Tauranga 9:30, back at 4.30-5.30pm
Route easy to follow. Track slippery on inclines under tree ferns (Mamaku), level on the pack tracks
Take swimming togs on a hot sunny day as there may be an opportunity for a swim in a natural river.
The Wairongomai Buck Rock Loop is a moderate graded walk.
We have also developed Leisurely Grade and Energetic Grade versions for hiking this historic walkway.
